September was a slow month. I’ll admit it. However, juggling and multi tasking between 4-5 different books is not easy.

Thankfully, I was able to deduct two from my currently reading.

Carl’s Doomsday Scenario by Matt Dinniman
Overall rating: ★★★★☆ | 4.5 / 5

This is Book 2 in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series (see review for Book 1 here).

As with the previous novel, I am continuing to listen to this in audiobook format.

Carl and Donut are welcomed to the third floor, where they get to pick their race and class.

A lot of this volume was starting to get on the deeper and darker side of things, and you start to see how Carl is struggling to keep it together and survive.

“You will not break me.”

I’ll continue to listen to this series in audiobook format (I am already more than halfway through the third book)!

Aubade Rising by Hayley Pierce
Overall rating: ★★★☆☆ | 3 / 5

Aubade Rising is a debut novel by author Hayley Pierce. I came across her Instagram page with a call for readers to receive an eARC. The premise of the story, and the tags got me intrigued. I want to support new and upcoming authors, and get excited to promote them too.

Hunted for her knowledge. Wanted for her intellect. A violent rebellion. Enemies to reluctant allies to lovers. He falls first. Found family. Forbidden magic. Political intrigue.

What more could you possibly want from a romance!?

Unfortunately, this didn’t hit the mark for me. I struggled to finish it, and the ending made me feel a little disappointed.

I know this is meant for a specific type of audience. Sadly it wasn’t for me. Still, give it a try if you can!

I’m still reading!

Just a little slowly. Goodreads has a new challenge for this season – spooky season. I picked up Silent Hill f from the library to play, for my “spooky” entertainment.

Still working through these books too. Time to set a schedule to complete them before month-end!
